I'm Valerie Peterson
I started consulting with authors years ago because after nearly two decades of working in-house for publishers (Random House, Doubleday, Wiley), when I got my own first book contract, I was shocked by how much I didn't fully understand about the author's side of the business.
Four books later — written while consulting for cutting-edge digital companies and writing about book publishing for an online media giant — I deeply understand both sides of the professional publishing fence.
I created BookishNYC for myself and others to be able to share hard-won bookish learnings. In combination with my corporate planning, project management, and content marketing skills, my goal is to show writers, small business owners, and established authors how they can strategically amplify their efforts and resources to be successfully published.
